Livestock Exchange

Livestock Exchange Web Address: https://www.sakaryahayvanborsasi.org.tr/

Our province is a city suitable for agriculture and animal husbandry in terms of geographical structure and climate. The presence of lands suitable for agriculture and the provision of animal husbandry raw materials from these lands bring animal husbandry to the forefront. When the fact that it is on the passage routes during the sacrifice period is added to this situation, we come across a province with high animal potential. This potential inevitably creates a market need. Sakarya Commodity Exchange has realized this need and in 2007, by signing a 3-way protocol with Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality and Sakarya Governorship, the first steps were taken for Sakarya Commodity Exchange animal park and Market Place. Project works started in January 2009 and our animal park and Market Place, which was 50% completed, started to serve buyers and sellers coming from Sakarya and surrounding provinces such as Kocaeli, Düzce, Bolu, Bilecik, Zonguldak and Bursa.

Sakarya Commodity Exchange Livestock Exchange was established in accordance with the regulations issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and the circulars it published. There are 44 closed cattle paddocks and 21 sheep paddocks in our market. With this structure, our market serves with a capacity to accommodate 1200 cattle and 600 sheep. Thanks to the wide ramp that allows 20 vehicles to unload and load at the same time, buyers and sellers do not experience any problems. There is a quarantine barn and a manure pit built in accordance with the regulations in our market. There is a social facility where our guests can meet their daily eating and drinking needs.

There is a parking lot for 350 vehicles in our market, which is dense in terms of the number of animals, where vehicles can be parked regularly. A 1400 square meter auction hall has been established within the facility. Our market is very well protected in terms of security, 3 security guards work in our market and work in shifts 24 hours a day. In addition, 19 external security cameras outside the auction building record the inside and outside of the market 24 hours a day.

Working Method
The animal market is set up on Sundays. The doors of our market open at 05:00 in the morning. All animals coming to the market are brought with the necessary documents before being allowed in and examined through the Türkvet veterinary information system to see if they have been transported. All sales transactions are carried out by the administrative directorate and the assigned Agriculture district personnel on the day of the market, in order to provide convenience to buyers and sellers. Vehicles carrying animals that meet the required conditions are taken inside through a disinfection tunnel. The vehicles taken inside are sent to the landing ramps and the documents are checked by the assigned personnel while they are unloaded from the vehicles. Dental checks are carried out by the responsible veterinarian. If an animal suspected of being sick is detected, the animal is immediately taken to the quarantine barn and the necessary units are notified. After these checks, the animals are placed in large and small cattle paddocks to be offered for sale.

If requested, an ultrasound pregnancy check is performed on female animals in order to determine the pregnancy months of the animals and not to slaughter pregnant animals.

Cleaning operations are started after the market is dispersed. Rough manure is collected and thrown into the manure pit. After the rough manure cleaning is completed, the market floor is washed with pressurized water. After the cleaning process is completed, disinfection is done to clean the market from germs and create a hygienic environment.
